Spotify Connect
Spotify is the world's most widely used music streaming service. With Spotify Connect, your phone becomes a remote control: you select a speaker in the Spotify app, and the music streams directly from the internet to that speaker, not via your phone.

What problem does Spotify Connect solve? When streaming from your phone via Bluetooth or AirPlay, the music depends on the phone: a call, a dead battery, or leaving the house, and the music stops. With Spotify Connect, the speaker fetches the music itself. You can put your phone down, switch it off or take it with you, and the music keeps playing.

How does trivum integrate Spotify Connect? Each trivum zone appears in the Spotify app as its own Connect speaker. Open Spotify, tap the device icon and select the room. You choose the music as usual in the Spotify app, and in the trivum app you can jump straight to Spotify with a single tap.

Advantages of Spotify ConnectYou use the Spotify app you already know, with all your playlists, podcasts and recommendations. Everyone in the household can start music with their own account, with no setup required on the trivum system. You still control volume, rooms and scenes via trivum, whether by touchpad or KNX.

How can you customise Spotify Connect in the setup? In the trivum setup, you decide which zones appear in the Spotify app and under what name. As with any trivum source, you can display Spotify as an action on the home screen.

What limitations does Spotify Connect support have? You need Spotify Premium, and music selection always happens via the Spotify app, not via the trivum menu or touchpad. A Spotify account can only play on one device at a time. For different music in several rooms, you therefore need multiple accounts, for example via Spotify Family. Your phone and trivum also need to be on the same network. And Spotify is only licensed for private use; for commercial premises, a business service is the better choice.
